FLANNELS X presents: ‘For The Love of The Lads’, by @corbinshaww and filmmaker @ariamark.

“For the love of all the lads in the playground it’ll all make sense one day, promise.”

This week, we hosted a two-day, multi-media exhibition exploring @corbinshaww’s key inspiration – masculinity in British culture – through the lens of a class of boys from Aylesbury Grammar School. Shaw invited a group of Year 8 students to interpret their personal reflections on masculinity. Following a talk from Shaw on attributes commonly associated with the male identity - strength, bravery etc. - and the various forms they can take, the students engaged in a workshop where they designed their own flags. The resulting designs portray an intimate, heartwarming image of a new generation; phrases include ‘Being Brave Is Being Your True Self’ and ‘Red And White Make Pink’.
